Jean-Noël Treilles

Mr. Treilles was Biopartners’ Chief Executive Officer from 2004-2009, stepping down after five years service during which time he steered the company successfully through the acquisition by Bioton. He is still closely involved with the company in an advisory consultancy role. Mr. Treilles held various senior positions with us and his expertise spans a diverse range of functions, including general management, international marketing and sales, business development, research, clinical development and operations. Prior to joining us, Mr. Treilles served as Chairman of Merck KGaA’s French holding company, Merck-Lipha, a world-leader in the treatment of diabetes.  Mr. Treilles joined Lipha’s research center in 1968 and was appointed to head its commercial operations in 1987.  Following the acquisition of Lipha by Merck KGaA in 1991, he was elected Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lipha.  In 1998, he was chosen as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Merck-Lipha responsible for the ethical pharmaceutical business on a global basis. In 1999, he was elected as President of Merck Pharmaceutical Ethicals worldwide.  During his career within the Merck-Lipha group, Mr. Treilles was a member of several boards, including the Ethicals Executive Committee and Pharma Management Board of Merck KGaA. Mr. Treilles was formerly a member of the board of directors and Chairman of the Audit Committee at Flamel Technologies, Inc., a Nasdaq-listed company.  He has been awarded the French honors of “Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite” and “Chevalier de l’Ordre national de la Légion d’Honneur”
